Yesterday, March 21st was Shun-bun(spring equinox) which is the day when the length of daytime and that of night time become equal. On the day of Shun-bun, people believed that the spirits of the ancestors returned where the descendants lived and pray for the spirits of their ancestors.
Japanese people visit the graves of family ancestors on the days(seven days which include three days before and after Shun-bun) and serve Bota-mochi. Please try one when you have a chance to visit Japan!
